8 April 2021
EURO-EXPERT is back to school!
Cultural Expertise a Scuola! Tutti Diversi e Tutti Uguali is a workshop of storytelling of La storia di Màriza, from the book Il Giudice alla rovescia, with class 4B, 21 children from aged 9-10, including children from 8 different nationalities and children with special needs, from a primary school of Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, Italy.
The project aims to assess the use and impact of Cultural Expertise in the context of rising populism in Europe, contributing to the understanding of Cultural Expertise as a new instrument for solving conflicts and celebrating diversity.
Through a story-telling session, Luciana Breggia (author of the book and Judge President, Florence Court) and Sabrina Ciolfi (University of Milan), with the help of the class teacher Chiara Moriggi encouraged the children to think about cultural diversity as a way to contribute to universal human rights.
The workshop took place on, as soon as children returned to their classroom, after the remote education period, due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
The event has been organised with EURO-EXPERT in association with Scuola Primaria Padre E. Balducci, Istituto Comprensivo Statale n. 3, Sesto Fiorentino (FI).

Story telling on Cultural Expertise: Humanity, Freedom, and Cultural Diversity
9 July 2019
EURO-EXPERT at St Barnabas’ School in Oxford for a drop-in session of storytelling and drawing by Dr Beatriz Barreiro Carril (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos) with 24 children aged 9-10.

The project aims to assess the use and impact of Cultural Expertise in the context of rising populism in Europe, contributing to the understanding of Cultural Expertise as a new instrument for solving conflicts and celebrating diversity.

Beatriz explains the concept of Cultural Expertise to children through a story-telling session in which the storyteller will encourage the children to think about cultural diversity as a way to contribute to universal human rights.
One and Seven, The Young Crab, and The Road that Went Nowhere by Gianni Rodari are read aloud alternating listening and drawing. These stories belong to the “Telephone’s Tales” and they tell us about the diversity and common belonging of all the children of the world, of solidarity and peace and about the capacity and enjoyment of individual and cultural freedom.
