Insecurity on Both Sides of the Line of Control by Livia Holden and Emma Varley is available on the website of the Association for Political and Legal Anthropology, the section of the American Anthropological Association committed to critical study of politics and law.

The article is a secondary output of EURO-EXPERT and it is part of the Speaking Justice to Power Series which focuses on Kashmir and marks the one-year anniversary of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A of the constitution (August 5, 2019).

The article argues that, in order to better understand the extent and severity of the Indian Prime Minister Modi’s move, it is important to look across the Line of Control to also consider the legislative and governmental policies enacted in Pakistan-Administered Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

Finland and Poland cases were just uploaded on CULTEXP, the first multilingual and cross-jurisdictional database on Cultural Expertise created by EURO-EXPERT team.

Poland is the first country that features also expert reports in addition to judgements. As the qualitative phase of data collection is now in progress more expert reports will be uploaded for all the countries of the research.

The volum gives a close look at the trial of former Chadian president, Hissene Habré, who was prosecuted for crimes against humanity in 2016 by an Hybrid (intl/national) tribunal in Senegal.

The book presents the trial and its impact using a novel structure of first-person accounts from 26 direct actors, including politicians, judges, lawyers, victims, donors, clerks and others (Part I), accompanied by academic analysis from leading experts on international criminal justice (Part II). Combined, these views present unique insights into the construction and work of the Extraordinary African Chambers; the book also proposes an innovative method of research on courts.

The book’s preface is written by Denis Mukwege, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Co-recipient.
